History
Salient events in the history of the firm Thion include:
Its creation in 1913 in a traditional textiles region in order to manufacture and market swaddling clothes and blankets.
Its diversification during the 1920s and 1930s through the creation of a range of cleaning fabrics.
In 1939, a large part of its blankets business operations were relocated to Fort de l’Eau (in Algeria), and remained there until Algeria became independent. During this period, the swaddling clothes line of business was discontinued
and the cleaning fabrics line of business made major inroads.
The development of specialised units during the 1970s and 1980s in response to a manufacturers strategy and changes in the market.
